Okay, a month ago I was all gung ho about creating this blog in tribute to my dad. I still am. The holidays then the start of our Winter Skating School got in the way.
By the way, I had a mom too. She wasn't so hot on the skating thing. It only took her nine years to come around. Then after ten years I quit. She was confused. More on that later. Much later.
Happy New Year,

My father
Almost everyday I think about my father, Kilburn James Hicks. He passed away on October 31, 1984 in Mesa, Arizona.
I really owe my entire skating career to him and was too damn young, stupid, self absorbed, immature to understand that while he was still alive. I'd give anything to have a few minutes with him to beg forgiveness and thank him profusely for what he allowed me to do, at great expense, and for never wavering in his belief that what I was doing was a really wonderful thing.
So much to share and express here.
